The Curateur public du Québec is launching today a major advertising campaign (in French) This hyperlink will open in a new window., to promote the assistance measure.

Until March 20, Quebecers are invited to learn more about this new way of accompanying a person who wishes to be assisted or guided in making decisions, managing their assets or exercising their rights.

The campaign aims to reach both those who might seek assistance and potential helpers.

People who face difficulties (loss of autonomy due to age, mild intellectual disability, visual, hearing or motor limitation, language barrier, etc.) can choose their assistant themselves and retain full control over their decisions. The assistant they choose, once recognized by the Curateur public, acts as an intermediary and can communicate, transmit or gather information on behalf of the person they are assisting, in order to support them in their various activities, such as with a physician, an accountant, a financial advisor or a telephone or cable service provider. The person being assisted receives a helping hand from their assistant, but they are still the ones making the decisions.
