The Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration (MIFI) has reached the maximum number of undertaking applications it can receive, from June 26, 2024 to June 25, 2026 inclusive, for sponsoring a parent (father, mother) a grandparent or another family member.

The MIFI is not receiving new applications for these family members until June 25, 2026.

Applications received after the maximum number of applications is reached will be returned to the clients without being processed. The fees charged for reviewing the application will not be deposited.

People whose applications were returned may submit a new application when a new application reception period opens. The next decision on the management of family reunification applications will be announced by the MIFI by June 25, 2026.

The MIFI is continuing to receive undertaking applications for certain other family members who can be sponsored through family reunification, such as minor dependent children or minor children to be adopted and children at the age of majority who are dependent on one or the other of their parents due to their physical or mental condition.

Note that the maximum number of undertaking applications that can be received to sponsor a spouse, a common-law spouse, a conjugal partner or a child aged 18 or over was also reached earlier in July 2025. For further details, please read the news published on this subject on July 9, 2025.
