As announced last June 18, a ministerial order was published in the Gazette officielle du Québec today. It marks the entry into force of new rules governing the intake of undertaking applications under the family reunification category.
This order allows the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) (Ministry of Immigration, Francization and Integration) to receive a maximum of 15,700 undertaking applications between July 2, 2026 and June 30, 2028.
Application Intake Schedule
To prioritize longest-standing applications, there will be different application intake periods based on the date of issue of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC’s) sponsor eligibility letter or based on the date of IRCC’s acknowledgment of receipt for applications to sponsor a person in the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class.
IMPORTANT:
Before sending your application, make sure to:
- Check the date of issue of your IRCC eligibility letter (or your IRCC acknowledgment of receipt if your application concerns a person in the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class);
- Read the intake schedule to find out when you can submit your application;
- Make sure that your application meets the Ministry’s application intake rules.
Please note: To be admissible, undertaking applications must be sent, by mail only, to the address provided at Québec.ca.
See the Rules governing the reception of applications page for all application intake rules and further details.
