QUÉBEC CITY, Oct. 2, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Chief Electoral Officer, Jean-François Blanchet, encourages electors to vote in large numbers on Monday, October 5, between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Already, 1.6 million electors (25.59%) voted at advance polls between September 25 and October 1; in 2022, 24.8% of electors had voted early.
Electors can find their polling location:
- on the yellow reminder card they received in the mail;
- on the
When and where to vote page of the Élections Québec website; - by contacting the institution by telephone at 1‑888‑ELECTION.
"On election day, there are more than 15,000 polling stations spread across nearly 3,000 locations. It's huge! But what makes this event significant is the energy driving millions of electors to express their vision for the Québec of tomorrow. It is also the excitement of the 908 candidates who have entered the race to represent the population at the Assemblée nationale, and the dedication of some 60,000 election officers who worked during the election, including those who will work late in the evening to count the votes cast. Let us be proud to take part in this democratic exercise, which helps keep our democracy healthy," stated Mr. Blanchet.
What to bring to vote
To vote, electors must present one of the accepted pieces of identification: the health insurance card, the driver's licence, the Canadian passport, the Indian status card or the Canadian Forces identification card.
They can also bring the yellow reminder card they received in the mail so that election officers can direct them to the right place more quickly, but it is not mandatory to vote.
Voting accessibility
Nearly 94% of polling locations are accessible to mobility impaired persons. However, some locations do not meet all the criteria established by Élections Québec, given the large number of sites where polling stations are located. There are nearly 3,000 polling locations across Québec.
Élections Québec provides
An accessibility kit will be available upon request at each polling place. It contains a lighted magnifying glass, a pencil with a grip, a clipboard, a Braille voting template with indications for guidance, a large-print poster of the candidates, and a tool with pictograms that facilitates communication between election officers and people who are deaf or hearing impaired.
In addition, there is a photo of each candidate on the ballot paper to help people with reading difficulties.
If needed, electors may receive assistance from an accompanying person or from polling station officers to exercise their right to vote.
