To ensure the continuity of ambulance services in Kanesatake, the Québec government has confirmed that it will provide financial support for First Nations Paramedics. The support granted will provide a quick solution to the fact that the company’s only ambulance is currently unavailable by helping it purchase a backup emergency vehicle, reducing the risk of service interruptions as seen recently. With this support from the Secrétariat aux affaires autochtones and thanks to the cooperation of Urgences-santé, the company will be able to procure a previously-owned vehicle.

First Nations Paramedics is the only Indigenous ambulance service in Québec. It has provided services financed by the Québec government since 1993. On April 30 of this year, its only ambulance was damaged on the trip back from the hospital in Saint-Eustache, following a collision with a passenger vehicle that failed to stop at a mandatory stop sign.
