Role and Responsibilities

The Premier of Québec is the government leader and the Chair of Cabinet, also known as the Conseil exécutif. He also chairs the Comité des priorités, composed of various ministers, which studies issues of topical interest. The Premier is also responsible for the Youth Issues portfolio.

In exercising his responsibilities, the Premier relies on the support of the ministère du Conseil exécutif, which reports directly to her. The Ministère advises and assists his and Cabinet in their duties at the helm of the State.

Every year, the Premier has the privilege of awarding the Ordre national du Québec to distinguished individuals.
