Any interested party may request a compilation of information from the Registraire des entreprises. A compilation of information is a set of information relating to a list of companies that you have obtained after specifying certain search criteria.

How to request a compilation of information

The process for requesting a compilation of information online is done in three steps:

  • obtain an access code to access the compilation of information
  • access the search tool to create a compilation of information
  • download the resulting compilation of information

Request a compilation of information

Access to the service in English

Service in English is reserved for individuals covered by the exceptions stipulated in the Charter of the French language. If you have navigated to this content, you confirm in good faith that you are such an individual.

Obtain an access code to access the compilation of information

To obtain an access code or to access the search tool, you must select the option Produire une nouvelle demande dans le service en ligne.

Activating this code will generate a fee of $134. A fee will be charged for every compilation of information request, even if you do not download the results. Fees are non-refundable.

If you have previously saved a request without transmitting it, in order to complete it later, you must select the option Continuer dans le service en ligne. Your data will be kept for 90 days.

Access the search tool to create a compilation of information

In the search tool, perform the following actions:

  • Specify the fixed criteria (type of business and economic activities). Once determined, these criteria cannot be modified.
  • Specify filtering criteria to limit the number of results (period, registration status, number of employees and geographical location of establishments and headquarters). Once determined, these criteria can be modified.
  • Determine the format of the desired compilation of information (a complete file for each enterprise, as well as a list containing postal contact information and the Québec enterprise number [NEQ]).
  • Choose the type of medium (digital download or paper). If you choose paper, additional fees will apply. Moreover, if the compilation of information sent as a hard copy includes more than 500 files, other additional fees will apply for each file over the first 500.
  • Sort the compilation of information according to certain criteria (e.g., a primary or secondary sorting).

Once you've specified all your search criteria, you can check the number of results and the cost of the transaction. At this point, you can refine your search to limit the number of results.

Once you have submitted your request containing the selection criteria, you will be assigned a download code. This code will be activated only when the request has been paid. The fees associated with this request represent the fees payable after deducting the basic fee. Please note that the code activation fee will not be refunded even if you do not submit the application or pay it after you have submitted it.

Download the resulting compilation of information

Before downloading the compilation of information package, make sure you have enough space on your hard disk. File size (number of kilobytes) and the transfer speed of your Internet connection determine download time. You will need to wait overnight before you can download the information package, to give the system time to carry out the necessary searches and validations. If you activate your download number before 5 p.m., you should be able to download your information package by 8 a.m. the following morning.

You can leave the service at any time to complete your request later. Your data will be kept for 30 days for downloading.

The information may not be reproduced

The Québec government is the copyright owner of the information that is transmitted in a compilation of information. It is therefore forbidden to reproduce this information without first obtaining its express authorization.

Fees and terms of payment

Please note that government departments and agencies, as well as educational institutions, can obtain compilations of information free of charge, for research purposes.

Making a payment

A payment can be made by credit card at the very end of the application, at the Accusé de réception stage.

If you choose another payment method, you will need Acrobat Reader to print out a payment slip. You will need to enclose this slip with your cheque or money order or present it when you pay in person at a Services Québec office.

Please note that your request will be processed only after payment has been received, and that payment must be received by the Enterprise registrar within 10 working days of transmitting the request.

Information not available in a compilation of information

Some information may not be available at the time you submit your request. For example, some enterprises may be in the process of obtaining registration or hold partial registration, or some data may be in the process of being entered. Please note that the enterprise register is updated daily.

The Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information stipulates that nominative information is confidential. Nominative information is information that concerns a natural person and makes it possible to identify him or her.

The following information cannot therefore be extracted from the register and be part of an information grouping:

  • The information that cannot be accessed in the enterprise register (for instance, birth dates of physical persons included in the register, the home address of a natural person included in the register when they have declared a professional address, etc.)
  • The name of the registrant (in the case of a sole proprietorship)
  • The address of elected domicile
  • The names and addresses of persons associated with the registrant shareholders, directors, chief executive officer, attorneys, administrators of the property of others, partners, general partners and limited partners
  • The telephone and fax numbers and email addresses. The latter are in fact never available in the enterprise register

In addition, the compilation of information service does not provide statistical data on enterprises.
