Rapid screening tests for COVID-19 in schools

A student who develops symptoms during the day is no longer required to undergo a rapid screening test.

All school staff, including those at specialized schools, have access to PCR testing carried out at screening clinics. It should be noted that school staff are not required to undergo a test at a testing centre for confirmation following a positive result on a rapid test. Therefore, a school staff member who obtains a positive test result on a rapid test taken at school must self‑isolate immediately.

Procedure and results

If it is decided that a student must undergo a rapid test, we recommend that you watch the short videos that have been made available. Note that a parent must have signed the the consent form beforehand.

Distribution of rapid tests in schools for at-home use

A distribution of self-tests in schools is planned for November 2022. No further distribution is planned thereafter.

For help carrying out a test at home, please consult the Using rapid testing page. In the case of a fever or a positive COVID-19 result, remain at home for a minimum of 24 hours after the fever subsides.
