Relance and Employer Surveys
The Relance surveys are designed to document the employment situation of new technical training and university graduates in Québec as well as their integration into the job market.
Employment situation of new graduates
The Ministère aims to match training to labour requirements and the demands of Québec society. One of the preferred tools for reaching this objective is the Relance surveys, which are censuses concerning the integration into the job market of technical training and university graduates.
Both the Relance Survey of College Graduates: Technical Training and the Relance Survey of University Graduates of holders of a bachelor’s and master’s degree are conducted every second year. The survey of holders of doctoral degrees takes place approximately every four years. All of these surveys are conducted by telephone and online.
Employer Surveys
Relance surveys may also be used with employers who have recently hired graduates with whom the Ministère has communicated during one of its previous surveys.
The employer surveys seek to determine employers’ satisfaction with the knowledge, abilities, skills and work attitudes of graduates of technical training and university programs.
Use of Data from Relance and Employer Surveys
The Relance and employer surveys provide the Ministère with reliable, up-to-date data on how recent graduates are faring on the job market, by program, field of study and region for Québec as a whole. These surveys also provide information, according to the programs of study, about the types of occupations held by recent graduates and the sectors of activity in which they work. Together, they fulfill the need for relevant information that can help support reflection and decision-making.
For the Ministère and institutions of higher education, this data is particularly useful to support analyses carried out to improve training programs.
For current students or those making a career choice, this data provides information enabling them to make informed choices for a lasting integration into the job market. The documents made available help to support students in choosing a program that aligns with their aspirations while enabling them to meet the challenges of the job market.
The documents are also used by program evaluation specialists, guidance counsellors, academic and career information counsellors, Emploi-Québec and Employment and Social Development Canada.
