Lebanon

The Republic of Lebanon offers 15 scholarships or research awards of up to four months to students, professors and researchers in graduate or post-graduate studies.

It also offers internship opportunities to 15 students enrolled in a vocational training or technical training program.

Studies and research

The Lebanese party offers short stays for a maximum of four (4) months to the Québec party, allowing up to fifteen (15) candidates to carry out their studies or research. These short stays are organized for the benefit of Québec professors, researchers and students enrolled in a graduate or post-graduate program in order to contribute to the development or the implementation of co-operative projects in higher education, or in research or partnerships between institutions, research centres or educational institutions in Lebanon and Québec.

Internships

The Lebanese party offers to host a maximum of fifteen (15) Québec students annually for stays of up to four (4) months in companies or organizations in the Republic of Lebanon, in sectors of common interest. These stays are intended for students enrolled in a vocational training or technical training program. They are intended to enable participants to improve their professional competencies and skills.

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
• Be a Québec resident according to the Regulation respecting the definition of resident in Québec  and have your permanent residence in the province within the meaning of the Health Insurance Act  and the Regulation respecting eligibility and registration of persons in respect of the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec 
• Have a student study permit in accordance with the immigration regulations of the Republic of Lebanon
• Have a valid Canadian passport
• Provide an address where you can be reached by mail, fax or, preferably, email

You also have to submit an application package with the following information:

•  your last name and first name
•  your date of birth
•  the diplomas you have obtained
•  your nationality
•  a description of the study or research program to be undertaken
•  the name of the host organization in Lebanon

The Lebanese party will cover the following costs:

• Accommodation and meal expenses
• Exemption from registration or tuition fees (if applicable) in public institutions for participation in activities related to the study or research program
• Health insurance coverage for the duration of the study or research program
• Local travel expenses necessary to achieve the objectives of the study or research program

Your application package must contain one copy of the following documents, in the following order:

• Your scholarship application, submitted on the prescribed form (PDF 281 Kb).
• A letter of intent describing and justifying your internship or research program.
• The original or a certified copy of your post-secondary diplomas.
• Your resumé.
• Your confirmation of admission to an internship or research program in a public institution of higher education in Lebanon.
• A photocopy of your act of birth certified by a Commissioner for Oaths. If you were not born in Canada, you must provide proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residence and proof of your status as a Québec resident as defined in the Regulation respecting the definition of resident in Québec.
• The formulaire d’inscription (registration form) (in French only) (forthcoming).
• Two confidential letters of recommendation sent directly by the signatories or by the educational institution to the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur.
• Official transcripts of your university studies.

You must compile your application documents into a single, compressed, encrypted and password-protected folder. Then send it to the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur at the following email address: bge@mes.gouv.qc.ca. 

You must send the Ministère your password separately. This can be done using an email other than the one containing the encrypted folder.

An evaluation committee examines the applications in accordance with the following criteria:

• Previous educational experience
• Relevance of the study plan or research project (expected spin offs for the host and home communities, and for the applicant’s personal journey)
• Motivation (e.g. interest in discovering the culture and learning the language of the host country)
• Careful presentation of the application

The government offering the scholarships makes the final selection.
