Employment Integration for First Nations and Inuit People

If you’re a member of a First Nation or you are Inuk and need help to enter the labour market, you might be interested in taking part in the First Nations and Inuit Employment Integration Program (PAIPNI).

Your new employer could receive a subsidy to cover a portion of your wages and certain additional expenses related to hiring you, such as:

  • the salary of a support person
  • training costs
  • the cost of specific integration measures.

Eligibility

You could be eligible for this program if

  • you are part of one of the following Indigenous Peoples: Abenaki, Algonquin, Attikamek, Cree, Nation Wendat, Innu (Montagnais), Inuit, Maliseet, Mi'kmaq, Mohawk, Naskapi
  • you have no significant work experience or you face obstacles preventing you from entering the labour market.

How the program works

Go to your Services Québec office to meet with an assistance officer who will assess your needs and ensure that this program is the most appropriate solution for your situation. If necessary, this person can accompany you in your job search.

Once you've found a job with an employer eligible for the program, an assistance officer will take care of all the formalities.

You'll receive support throughout the program to ensure your successful integration and job retention.
