Job description

These individuals organize, direct, and evaluate the activities of a purchasing department. They develop the purchasing policies of organizations. They work in both private and public sector establishments.

  • Control the purchasing department’s budget.
  • Evaluate the cost and quality of products or services.
  • Negotiate and supervise the negotiation of purchase contracts.
  • Identify companies selling materials, equipment, or supplies.
  • Hire and train staff.
  • Ensure work equipment optimization.
  • Examine and deal with complaints against suppliers.

  • Certification in change management (PROSCI) may be an asset.
