Main tasks
Desktop Publishing Equipment Operators
- Use desktop publishing software and hardware to design, layout, and produce copies.
- Perform the duties of a pre-production equipment operator, as required.
Markup Persons
- Write computer codes and typographical instructions on paper before the text is laid out.
Input Operators (Typesetting)
- Enter text, codes, or commands and make corrections.
- Use media conversion machines to process and format text received in electronic form.
- Ensure that the files provided are complete before sending them to print.
Output Operators (Typesetting)
- Operate the output typing equipment and monitor its operation.
- Load and process photosensitive materials and perform routine maintenance.
Advancement and mobility
- Experience leads to supervisory positions.
