Job description

These individuals assess patients’ physical capacity. They plan and execute treatments to maintain, improve, or restore their physical capacity and mobility.

Main tasks

  • Assess the physical capabilities of individuals.
  • Set treatment goals based on individuals’ physical condition.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust physiotherapy programs.
  • Communicate with other health care professionals about people’s difficulties, needs, and progress.
  • Maintain clinical and statistical records.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote health.
  • Conduct physiotherapy research, if necessary.
  • Provide consultation and education as required.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience and additional training are required to advance to management positions.
  • Physiotherapists may practice in a variety of clinical areas (neurology, oncology, pediatrics, etc.) or in the treatment of various conditions (cardiovascular disorders, sports injuries, etc.).
