Job description

These individuals manage the information contained in the archives produced by organizations. They acquire, preserve, and review various types of records. They work in:

  • Archival services
  • Government and para-governmental sectors
  • Private companies

Main tasks

  • Update databases.
  • Develop programs for the preservation and dissemination of archives in all media (photographs, maps, manuscripts, etc.).
  • Plan the computerized management of archives.
  • Determine the origin and value of archives.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the management, classification, and retrieval of archives.
  • Establish the authenticity of documents and records.
  • Carry out dissemination, promotional, and public relations activities.
  • Acquire archives to build and develop a collection of holdings for research.
  • Assist researchers in their work.
