Airline Ticket and Service Agents

Job description

These individuals provide various services to airline passengers (ticketing, baggage handling, etc.). They work for air carriers.

Main tasks

Passenger and Ticketing Agents

  • Help clients plan their travel time and itinerary.
  • Inform customers about fares and schedules.
  • Issue tickets, assign seats, prepare boarding passes, and check luggage.
  • Check boarding passes.
  • Assist passengers with priority boarding.

Cargo Agents

  • Weigh the cargo and evaluate costs.
  • Calculate service and insurance fees.
  • Retrieve lost, delayed, or misdirected luggage.
  • Process various documents and keep records.

Booking Agents

  • Reserve seats on board for various companies.
  • Inform customers about airlines.

Station Agents

  • Fill out various forms before flights (passenger, cargo, food services, etc.).
  • Transmit messages to the operations control centre and ground services.
  • Perform the same duties as Ticketing and Cargo Agents.

Load Planners

  • Calculate the weight of the load in the aircraft holds.
  • Distribute the weight and balance the cargo.

Advancement and mobility

  • The tasks of those in this group may be performed by more than one person, depending on the size of the airline or airport.
  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2022 to 2024.
