Job description

These individuals carry out repairs, adjustments, and replacements on construction equipment. They diagnose breakdowns and technical problems. They are employed by mining, public works, and forestry companies.

Main tasks

  • Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and electronic systems.
  • Carry out periodic maintenance of machinery (engines, brakes, injection systems, etc.).
  • Detect damages and malfunctions and assess repairs to be made.
  • Cut and weld parts.
  • Tune and repair diesel engines.
  • Search for technical information on construction equipment to be repaired.

Advancement and mobility

  • Qualified Construction Equipment Mechanics obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
