Job description

These individuals manage the activities and services of a financial institution. They take care of business development. They ensure overall performance according to the strategic orientations and established policies. They work for:

  • Financial institutions (banks, "caisses," trust companies, credit unions, etc.).
  • Department stores
  • Car dealerships
  • Insurance companies
  • Credit card, loan, mutual fund, and mortgage investment companies

Main tasks

Bank Managers

  • Manage loans and investment funds.
  • Buy or sell securities.
  • Manage trusts and settle estates.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Make recommendations to improve the process.
  • Cultivate business relationships to promote banking services.
  • Interview individuals and representatives of businesses.
  • Analyze, examine, process, and approve or reject loan and credit applications within authorized limits.
  • Oversee the preparation of reports.
  • Hire staff and identify training needs.

Credit Managers

  • Manage loan accounts.
  • Advise clients on the choice of financial services.
  • Examine, analyze, and approve or decline loan and credit applications within authorized limits.
  • Establish the credit limit and repayment schedule.
  • Ensure collection of overdue or unpaid accounts.
  • Ensure credit policies and procedures are followed.
  • Prepare reports.
  • Hire staff and identify training needs.

Advancement and mobility
