Drafting Technologists and Technicians
Job description
These individuals prepare models and engineering drawings from technical information. They work closely with Engineers, Architects, and Industrial Designers. They work for:

Main tasks
- Develop and prepare plans, models, and engineering drawings from sketches, preliminary concepts, engineering calculations, and specifications.
- Operate computer-aided design and drafting stations or conventional drafting stations.
- Prepare the specifications and evaluate the costs of the construction material.
- Ensure drawings follow specifications and design data.
- Complete documentation, prepare contracts, and bids, and write technical reports.
- Supervise and train other technologists, technicians, and draftspersons.

- There is some mobility between these positions and other fields (e.g. mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering) with additional training or experience.
- Experience leads to senior or supervisory positions.
