Computer Graphics Designers
Job description
These individuals create graphic concepts or participate in designing and creating them. They use specialized software to prepare the make-up, lettering, and layout templates of web or paper documents. They digitize and retouch images. They may also take photographs. They are self-employed or work for:
- Advertising and marketing agencies
- Printing services providers
- Publishing and communication firms
- Multimedia production centres
- Television and film production companies
- Graphic design studios
- Digital print shops
- Various businesses (insurance, engineering, etc.)

Main tasks
- Note a project’s guidelines and specifications.
- Enter the different elements of a document (titles, text, drawings, illustrations, graphs, etc.) on a computer.
- Assemble documents for printing or multimedia distribution.
- Produce proofs and camera-ready materials using computers, specialized software, graphic tablets, scanners, etc.
- Collaborate with various professionals (Artistic Directors, Graphic Designers, Project Managers, Writers, etc.).
Advancement and mobility
- Experience or additional training leads to Graphic Designer positions.
