Industrial Upholsterers
Job description
These individuals take care of the upholstery of different components of a piece of furniture manufactured in a factory. They upholster it and cover it with fabric. They work for:
- Furniture repair shops
- Industrial upholsterers
- Manufacturers of mattresses and other bedding products
- Furniture manufacturers
- Automotive seat manufacturers

Main tasks
- Lay out, measure, and cut upholstery fabric according to sketches or instructions.
- Replace defective straps, springs, and upholstery.
- Assemble and glue the foam that serves as padding.
- Machine or hand sew cushions and various sections of the upholstery fabric.
- Install wadding, other trim, and upholstery fabric on furniture frames.
