Job description

These individuals manufacture, modify, test, and assemble the parts that make up die-making tools. These tools are used to transform metal parts. They work in workshops and manufacturing and machining plants.

Main tasks

  • Manufacture the components required to create the parts.
  • Work with conventional or numerically controlled machining tools and measuring instruments.
  • Draw and produce parts to test the new die-making tools.
  • Interpret plans and drawings of parts to be manufactured.
  • Ensure the quality of manufactured parts.
  • Maintain and grind die-making tools.
  • Supervise toolmaking operations.
  • Find solutions to technical problems.
  • Assume full responsibility for the manufacture of the press tool.
  • Provide advice, test, and act as a resource person.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

Formation

Most training programs are offered in French only.
