Job description

These individuals install insulation materials in various locations (walls, floors, plumbing systems, etc.). Their work prevents or reduces the passage of heat, cold, noise, or fire.

  • Uncontrolled ambient temperature

Main tasks

  • Interpret drawings and specifications to determine the quantity and type of materials required.
  • Measure, cut, apply, and fasten insulation materials.
  • Place insulation around obstacles, between beams, etc.
  • Install vapour barriers.
  • Apply water-repellent cement on insulation materials.
  • Remove hazardous materials (e.g. asbestos) from buildings, as required.

Advancement and mobility

  • Qualified Insulators obtain a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2022 to 2024.
