Job description

These individuals install, repair, restore, and maintain mechanical conveyor systems (elevators, moving walkways, escalators, etc.). They identify defects in an elevator’s electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. They work for:

  • Manufacturers of elevators and related equipment
  • Companies specialized in maintaining and repairing elevators and related equipment
  • Companies specialized in the installation of mechanical conveyor systems
  • Real estate companies
  • Construction companies

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Equipment, machinery, tools
  • Hazardous workplaces
  • Electricity

Main tasks

  • Interpret diagrams and technical drawings.
  • Install rails, frames, and counterweights.
  • Install cables and electrical conduits.
  • Run electronic circuits.
  • Install control units and control devices.
  • Assemble elevator cars.
  • Align components of mechanized moving systems.
  • Install and operate motors.
  • Test elevator systems.
