Job description

These individuals smooth, finish, and treat freshly poured concrete. They install and maintain masonry structures that are limited to the height of the baseboard (foundations, floors, etc.).

Main tasks

  • Check formwork, foundation layers, and reinforcing elements.
  • Direct concrete paving on the surfaces to be covered.
  • Eliminate dents and bumps, level layers, and grade the surface to the specified slope and depth.
  • Use tools to work the concrete and give it the desired finish.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, and door sills in the concrete.
  • Apply products to harden, seal, and waterproof surfaces.
  • Restore and repair worn or damaged sections.

Advancement and mobility

  • Qualified Concrete Finishers receive a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

The hourly wage is calculated by averaging wages from 2022 to 2024.
