Burner Installers
Job description
These individuals install and maintain oil, coal, and wood-burning units. They are employed in commercial and residential buildings.
Environment
- Controlled ambient temperature
- Equipment, machinery, tools
Main tasks
- Read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
- Assemble heating system components.
- Install burner components (e.g. thermostats) and connect them to the fuel supply, ventilation, and electrical system.
- Turn on and adjust burners.
- Locate and repair burner malfunctions.
- Install, maintain, and repair coal and wood heating systems.
- Provide periodic maintenance service.
Advancement and mobility
- Qualified Oil Heating System Technicians receive a Red Seal endorsement upon successful completion of the Interprovincial Examination.
- Experience leads to supervisory positions.
