Job description

These individuals apply liquid or powder coatings (e.g. paint) to parts and products manufactured in factories. They work for:

  • Workshops specialized in the application of liquid or powder coatings
  • Precision sheet metal manufacturers
  • Manufacturers of machinery, aerospace products, and industrial equipment

Environment

  • Controlled ambient temperature
  • Equipment, machinery, tools
  • Hazardous chemical
  • Odours
  • Fire, steam, hot surfaces

Main tasks

  • Select the appropriate paint or paint mixture for the work to be done.
  • Prepare the objects to be painted or covered, remove rust, and fill the hollows.
  • Use hand guns to paint objects attached to or moving on a conveyor.
  • Paint small objects and do touch-ups with a brush.
  • Clean and maintain equipment.
  • Prepare and apply stencils and layers on finished products.

Advancement and mobility

  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.

Formation

Most training programs are offered in French only.
