  • dismissal
  • termination.

Government resources and programs can help you find a new job.

Preparing your job search

Before you start looking for a job, you'll need to update your résumé and cover letter to include recent work experience. You can get help in preparing your application.

You can also take part in job and career fairs (French only) to meet with employers in your area.

There are employability services organizations throughout Québec that can help you with your job search. Their role is to

  • support
  • advise
  • support job seekers.

Training or going back to school

Losing a job can be an exceptional opportunity to explore trades and occupations. Some offer excellent employment prospects, such as jobs with a promising future.

You may have to take training or return to school to get the job you want.
