Services for youth in difficulty and their families
Rehabilitation centre for young people with adjustment difficulties
Rehabilitation centres for young people with adjustment difficulties (CRJDAs) are specialized facilities in the health and social services network. They aim to help young people and their families to improve their well-being and functioning in everyday life. The approach complies with current laws.
Rehabilitation services in CRJDAs
The mission of youth psychosocial rehabilitation is to provide specialized services for young people in vulnerable situations and their families, before, during and after placement.
The intervention is based on a comprehensive understanding of the young person’s situation and aims to support their development through everyday experiences. It is based on a relationship of trust and on recognized or promising approaches and practices.
The objective is to encourage positive and significant changes in the young person and their family, in the way they function on a daily basis by strengthening their ability to adapt, by reducing risk factors and by increasing protective factors.
Integrating the young person into their family and society is promoted, as well as their active participation in the different spheres of their life. Services provided are adjusted according to needs and complexity of the situation. The ultimate goal is to help young people and their loved ones regain control of their well-being and their place in society.
Target clientele
These services are intended for young people who are experiencing behavioral or psychosocial difficulties, who have been victim of child maltreatment or have committed offences requiring intervention to ensure their safety or that of others, whether physical, psychological or emotional.
Rehabilitation services provided in CRJDAs are mainly intended for young people between 6 and 17 years of age. In some cases, these services may be available up to 21 years of age. Psychosocial rehabilitation services are also offered to their parents and families.
Vision of youth rehabilitation services
CRJDAs aim to provide each young person a caring, stimulating, stable and safe living environment, as well as specialized quality services tailored to their needs and promoting their development and social integration.
These services are developed in a personalized and participatory way, in collaboration with the young person, their significant others and partners, with a focus on well-being, support, empowerment and developing their full potential.
Work underway
CRJDAs are constantly evolving. Extensive work is underway, particularly for the implementation of a new reference framework.
