End of a parental union

A parental union ends

when one of the spouses dies,
when the spouses marry or enter into a civil union, or when one of the spouses does so with another person, or
through separation.

When the parental union ends, the value of the parental union patrimony must be partitioned. The court may also be called upon to rule, for example,

on child support
on child custody.
