End of a parental union

A parental union ends

  • when one of the spouses dies,
  • when the spouses marry or enter into a civil union, or when one of the spouses does so with another person, or
  • through separation.

When the parental union ends, the value of the parental union patrimony must be partitioned. The court may also be called upon to rule, for example,

  • on child support
  • on child custody.
