End of parental authority

As the parent of a child, you are entitled and, in fact, required to exercise parental authority. You must do so without violence.

Parental authority ends:

• when your child reaches full age or the age of majority (18);
• your child, while not yet of full age, is emancipated : 
  • by marriage,
  • by a court decision;
• the court deprives you of parental authority.

Children owe their parents respect and remain under their authority until they reach full age (18 years) or are emancipated. An unemancipated minor may not leave home without the consent of the person with parental authority.
