Each year, the tourism industry generates spinoffs1 that benefit all Québec regions:
Over $16 billion in tourism revenue
Some 62 million visitors from Québec and around the world
Some 24,000 businesses operating in the tourism sector (food and drink, leisure and entertainment, accommodation, transport and travel services)
Nearly 407,000 jobs
Tourism is an important export sector that brings in foreign currency through the spending of visitors from outside Canada. It supports national production growth and helps make a name for Québec in international markets. It is also a magnet for other activities and investments, whether commercial, cultural or institutional.
Tourism spinoffs are more than economic: they also contribute to quality of life, community dynamism and territorial vitality, the preservation and enhancement of cultural and natural heritage, and the promotion of local expertise. The real strength of tourism lies in the passionate people who bring it to life every day.
