Eligibility
Notice
Women aged 70 to 74 without any health problems that would reduce their life expectancy to less than 10 years can participate in the Québec Breast Cancer Screening Program’s (PQDCS) out-of-program screening. To do so, they must speak with a health professional to obtain a medical prescription.
The content of this web page will soon be updated to reflect this information.
Notice publication date: April 6, 2023
The PQDCS is specifically aimed at women who are:
- Between the ages of 50 and 69
- Covered by Québec’s public health insurance plan
Women who have already had breast cancer are not eligible for the PQDCS. These women must have personalized medical care that is adapted to their situation.
Women who are under 50 and over 69 must talk to their doctors about the advantages and disadvantages of screening mammography. Depending on their personal risk for breast cancer, the doctor can prescribe a mammogram or another appropriate medical exam.
