Applying for a Foreign Credential Recognition Loan
Financial assistance is available for people who trained or received a diploma from another country. It is offered as part of the Foreign Credential Recognition Loan program (PRTCE).
A number of organizations have been mandated to provide services related to this measure. They ensure that a financial institution grants a low-interest loan to individuals whose application has been accepted.

Eligibility
The measure is aimed at people trained or received a diploma in another country. They may be immigrants or Canadian-born.
To be eligible, you must also meet one of these criteria:
hold Canadian citizenship;
hold permanent resident status;
be recognized as a refugee;
be a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
hold temporary foreign worker status and an open and valid work permit.
Asylum seeker and foreign students are not eligible.
It is possible to obtain more than one loan to have your credentials recognized. However, the first loan must be repaid before applying for a second.
Financial assistance
Loans of up to $15,000 are available.
The sum loaned is not considered as income when calculating employment assistance benefits.
It is excluded in its entirety from the calculation of benefits paid under the Social Assistance Program and the Social Solidarity Program.
