With the coming into force of the law to better protect vulnerable persons, Quebecers can now take advantage of the new Assistance Measure.

This measure allows a person who is going through a difficulty to have one or two relatives officially recognized to help and guide them in making decisions, managing their assets and exercising their rights. Once recognized by the Curateur public and listed in a public registry, your assistant(s) will be able to share information on behalf of the person seeking assistance with various departments, organizations, service companies (electricity, telephone, cable, etc.) and professionals (physicians, pharmacists, social workers, lawyers, chartered professional accountants, etc.). This measure will allow the person being assisted to remain in control of their decisions while getting some support when they feel the need.

You want to take advantage of this new measure for yourself or you want to act as an assistant for a close relative? Learn more by visiting the Web page Québec.ca/nouvelle-mesure-assistance.
