Guide signs
Guide signs inform road users of a destination, distance, direction, street name, point of interest, services or information. They are generally blue, brown, yellow, red or green, depending on the nature of the message being conveyed.
There are different types of guide signs:
- Destination signs
- Locator signs
- Off-road services signs
- Information signs
- Tourist facilities signs
Examples of guide signs are below.
S.O.S. Steep Grade
This information sign indicates that a particularly steep grade with an emergency lane is approaching.

Freeway Name
The following sign indicates the name of a freeway whose name has been made official by the Commission de toponymie.

Topographic Feature
The following sign shows the name of a mountain or mount located near the highway.

Hospital
The following specific service sign indicates the presence of a hospital, university medical centre or cottage hospital providing continuous services, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and having emergency hospital-type services.
