Mining Title Management System (GESTIM)

In Québec, mining title management is computerized and easily accessible from GESTIM, the mining title management system. Through a geomatics application, this digital service provides instant access to up-to-date data from Québec’s public register of real and immovable mining rights.

GESTIM enables, among other things, to:

• reduce the cost of acquiring, managing and tracking mining titles;
• view and download data from the public register of mining rights by selecting desired parameters;
• generate mining title maps tailored to your needs;
• view mining title maps and download them free of charge in PDF format;
• apply for a map designation of an exclusive exploration right (EER) and for their renewals;
• pay the required fees in a safe environment;
• produce the annual report of work performed on an exclusive exploration right;
• produce the declarations for the extraction or transfer of surface mineral substances.

Access GESTIM

GESTIM allows you to access Québec’s public register of real and immovable mining rights through three options:

• You can filter by specific criteria (title number, location, type of title, status, etc.).
• You can navigate on the interactive map.
• You can search by designated jurisdictions based on a specific time period or mapsheet.

By creating an account in GESTIM, you will become a member. Thus, you will be able to:

• view and download data for all of your mining titles, regardless of their status, as well as detailed records of those titles, whether completed or in process;
• do a map designation;
• acquire and renew most of your titles online, including the exclusive exploration right;
• prepare your designation session and save it for future submission;
• save all of your specific queries: these queries are automatically updated in in the daily log when coming back;
• partially or fully delegate the management of your rights to one of your employees or an external consultant;
• make declarations and reports using electronic forms.

In addition to GESTIM, you can view various documents and files related to mining right management. On the document distribution site, you will have access to:

• notices of land boundary change;
• data on current Government Land-Use Planning Guidelines for mining activities (GLPG-Mines);
• maps and data of Québec's mining sector;
• ore quantity and value reporting forms, as well as the compliance form and certificates of authorization for surface mineral substance extraction sites.

A request to search the public register of real and immovable mining rights results in certain rates that are indexed every January 1. This indexation corresponds to the annual change in the average consumer price index for Québec (in French only). In 2026, the rate is set at 2.05%.
