Several government and municipal data are used in the interactive map of flood zones and channel migration zones of a watercourse. Learn more about their sources.

Grid for possible presence of flood zone (former generation maps data)

The grid for possible presence of flood zone is produced by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts.

The standardized grid identifies areas for which information on flood zone is available (former generation maps, flood ratings or other). Contact the municipality or RCM to verify if flood zone boundaries have been established on former generation maps for a property.

The information in the presence grid is continuously updated and for information purposes only.

The dataset is available on Données Québec (in French only).

Area assessment units

The area assessment unit layer was generated using information provided by the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation.

The information from the assessment units (the “property”) comes from the municipal assessment roll. The property sheet of the interactive map of flood zones and channel migration zones of a watercourse contains the majority of addresses and lots associated with the same property.

Some area assessment units may be absent (e.g., hydrography, roadways, etc.).

Official information must be consulted with municipalities.

This dataset is updated annually. The division has no legal value and should not be confused with the cadastral division.

Québec cadastre

The Québec cadastre is produced by the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts.

The interactive map of flood zones and channel migration zones of a watercourse shall not be used to delineate or position properties that only a land surveyor is authorized by law to do. Furthermore, the coordinates that can be extracted from it has no legal value. They can be changed without notice or notification.

The web service used in the interactive map of flood zones and channel migration zones of a watercourse is continuously updated for illustrative purposes only.

Interpreting property identification data

The property sheet of the interactive map of flood zones and channel migration zones of a watercourse appears when an assessment unit is linked to the desired address or lot.

The civic addresses displayed in the property sheet are from the municipal assessment roll, and the labels cannot be changed. If there is an error, contact your municipality.

List of other data sources

Other data produced by the Gouvernement du Québec and its partners are used in the interactive map of flood zones and channel migration zones of a watercourse.

  • Base maps from the Gouvernement du Québec
  • Continuous imaging base maps from the Gouvernement du Québec
  • iCherche Application Programming Interface (API).
