Ongoing Call for Projects

Call for projects is open until May 17.

Objectives

The purpose of this Call for Projects is to contribute to the preservation, development and vitality of Indigenous languages in Québec by creating activities or products that promote learning and use of these languages.

Details

The Indigenous languages covered by the program are those of the 11 nations present throughout Québec. These include the Abenaki, Algonquin (Anishinabe), Attikamek, Cree (Eeyou), Huron-Wendat, Innu, Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet), Micmac, Mohawk (Kanien'kehà:ka), Naskapi and Inuit nations.

Applicant Eligibility

Terms and Conditions

The program is open to non-profit legal entities (organizations, cooperatives or public authorities):

  • that have their headquarters and principal place of business in Québec
  • that have fulfilled all commitments made to the Ministère regarding previous grants, including submitting the Accountability Report (PDF 131 Kb)

Specific Requirements

The Call for Projects is intended for Indigenous organizations or committees with a mission or mandate to contribute to the cultural development of their community.

Eligible partners include:

  • Indigenous public authorities
  • Indigenous organizations, companies or community groups
  • Indigenous educational institutions
  • Indigenous cultural, educational or recreational organizations or centres

Exclusions

The following are not eligible for the Call for Projects:

  • individuals
  • non-Indigenous organizations (unless they are working in partnership with Indigenous organizations eligible for the program)
  • for-profit organizations
  • governmental organizations
  • an applicant who :
    • is registered in the Registre des entreprises non admissibles aux contrats publics (RENA), including their subcontractors, registered in the RENA;
    • has failed to meet its obligations after having been duly served with a formal notice in connection with the granting of previous financial assistance by a Québec government department or agency;

Financial assistance may not be used to make a payment to any entity in any of the situations described in the preceding paragraphs.

Project Eligibility

Eligibility Requirements

Projects submitted for this Call for Projects must:

  • contribute to the preservation and revitalization of Québec’s Indigenous languages
  • promote the accessibility, visibility and broadcasting of an Indigenous language of Québec
  • include a plan for public communication of project activities and results
  • take place in Québec

Guidelines

Priority will be given to projects that:

  • promote direct oral or written interaction
  • originate in a community or respond to local needs
  • promote written or oral expression in an Indigenous language

Exclusions

Projects not eligible for the program include:

  • those related to an organization’s day-to-day operations, i.e., projects that fall within the scope of activities considered normal and routine
  • those funded under another assistance program offered by the Ministère or included in the action plan of a cultural development agreement
  • those eligible for an assistance program sponsored by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles or the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec
  • those of a recurring nature
