Substitution for the Épreuve uniforme de français and the requirement to take three courses “given in” French

You may be eligible to take the Ministerial Examination of College English instead of the Épreuve uniforme de français (EUF) if you:

  • can prove that you reside or have resided on certain Indigenous territories
  • have received elementary- or secondary-school instruction in English, in an Indigenous language, or in English and an Indigenous language for at least one year
  • will receive your college education in English

Course substitution

If you are eligible for the substitution for the EUF, you are eligible to substitute three courses “given in” French with three French courses, if the college you attend or will attend allows it.

Since July 25, 2024, both requests can be submitted using the same form. In addition to the conditions listed above, to be eligible, you must:

  • have applied for admission to a CEGEP that offers instruction in English
  • submit the substitution request before July 1, 2027
