Program description

Mexico offers, through AMEXCID, the following scholarships to Québec students enrolled full-time at a university in Québec:

Government of Mexico’s Merit Awards for International Students:

Twelve full annual scholarships allowing Québec students enrolled in a university in Québec to pursue master’s or doctoral studies, research programs or student mobility programs in Mexican public higher education institutions involved with the Government of Mexico’s Merit Awards for International Students

Government of Mexico’s Special Merit Award Programs for International Students:

Scholarships awarded each year to students and professors from institutions of higher education in Québec for short stays under the calls for applications and programs in the fields of higher education offered and managed by AMEXCID

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

Application procedure

You must submit two copies of the documents in your application package, one in French and one in Spanish, and in the following order:

  • The Mexican Government Scholarship Program for International Students Application Form This hyperlink will open in a new window., prescribed by the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.
  • A letter of intent describing your study plan in Mexico (two pages maximum).
  • Your résumé.
  • Your confirmation of admission to a participating educational institution in Mexico, or the procedures you have completed with such institution. The official confirmation of admission is required for the complete analysis of the file and for the payment of the scholarship.   • A certified photocopy of the most recent diploma you obtained.
  • A certificate attesting to your knowledge of Spanish is at least equivalent to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Certificates completed by a language assistant will not be accepted.
  • A photocopy of your passport, or act of birth certified by a Commissioner for Oaths. If you were not born in Canada, you must provide a proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residence and a proof of your status as a Québec resident as defined in the Regulation respecting the definition of resident in Québec.
  • A certified photocopy of a medical certificate, not more than three months old, attesting to your good health and your ability to travel.
  • The formulaire de confirmation (confirmation form) (PDF 220 Kb).
  • Official transcripts of your university studies. These transcripts must be sent by the signatory or by the educational institution directly to the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur.

You must gather your application documents into a single, compressed, encrypted and password-protected folder. Then send it to the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur at the following email address:

bge@mes.gouv.qc.ca

You must provide the Ministère with your password separately. This can be done using an email separate from the one containing the encrypted folder.

Selection process

An evaluation committee examines the applications in accordance with the following criteria:

  • previous educational experience
  • relevance of the study plan or research project (expected spin-off for the host and home communities, and for the applicant’s personal journey)
  • motivation (e.g. interest in discovering the culture and learning the language of the host country)
  • careful presentation of the application

The government offering the scholarships makes the final selection.
