Hosting a student intern enrolled in the Work-Oriented Training Path (WOTP) or the Sociovocational Integration (SVI) Program in your workplace

Students enrolled in the Work-Oriented Training Path (WOTP) or the Sociovocational Integration (SVI) Program are required to complete practicums in the workplace. If you are interested in hosting a student intern in your workplace, you can build a partnership with a local school service centre or school board that offers the WOTP or SVI program.

In addition to allowing you to contribute to society by helping students achieve their full potential, hosting a student intern helps you meet your recruitment needs in light of the current labour shortage.

Workplaces that host student interns enrolled in the WOTP or the SVI program are eligible for the provincial tax credit for an on-the-job training period.

To be eligible, employers must complete form TP-1029.8.33.6-V and institutions must provide a certificate of participation TP-1029.8.33.10-T.

A teacher supervisor contributes to the successful completion of the practicum, namely by supporting the student intern in the development of workplace competencies, attitudes and behaviours.

Student interns are automatically registered with the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST). School service centres and school boards also plan for procedures in the case of accidents, since the student intern is considered an employee of their organization when they are completing a practicum under the WOTP or SVI program.
