About semiskilled trades

In semiskilled trades, employees perform concrete, repetitive and simple tasks for an employer.

Learning and training options

Learning a semiskilled trade takes place during a workplace practicum. Students and adult learners develop their competencies by performing the tasks required to practise a semiskilled trade.

The learning options for a semiskilled trade are the following:

  • Prework Training (PT) in general education in the youth sector
  • Training for a Semiskilled Trade (TST) in general education in the youth sector
  • Sociovocational Integration Program in adult general education, which leads to a Training Certificate in Sociovocational Integration of Adults (TCSIA) or a Training Certificate for a Semiskilled Trade (TCST)

Students and adult learners are directed toward one of these training options, depending on their needs, interests, age and admission requirements for each training option.
