Assistance Services for Your Job Search or Job Retention

Various assistance and support services are available to help you in your job search or job retention process. Two programs may be available: the Employment Assistance Services Program and the Employment Preparation Project measure. The choice of program depends on your situation and your needs. The employment assistance staff will evaluate your situation and your needs. Together, you will then determine if one of these two programs is the right solution for you.

Services offered

You will get help to evaluate your situation and determine your employment objectives, so that you can choose the right services for your needs.

The services can be offered by a Services Québec office or by employability services organizations, partnered with the Gouvernement du Québec. Here are some examples:

  • Information sessions on occupations and job opportunities in your city or region
  • Orientation services to create a profile of your skills and validate your professional choice
  • Assistance in your job search using tools and adapted methods
  • Support to help you retain your job
  • Short-term internships or job shadowing so that you can discover a new trade or occupation

Financial assistance

Under certain conditions, if you are eligible for the Employment Assistance Services program, you could be reimbursed for some of your costs, such as daycare or transportation costs, to support you in your job search.

For the Employment Preparation Project measure, you could receive an allowance depending on your situation. Contact your Services Québec office.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are receiving or are eligible for employment insurance benefits.
  • You are receiving last-resort financial assistance benefits (social assistance or social solidarity).
  • You are unemployed and are not receiving any public income support.

Other criteria may apply depending on your situation. For more information, you must submit a request for information and employment assistance services.
