These individuals are responsible for human resources and labour relations activities. They provide information to management and employees of an organization on these issues.

Main tasks
- Develop job classifications and descriptions, salary scales, and evaluation measures.
- Provide advice on labour relations issues.
- Plan and coordinate programs (staffing, compensation, training, employee assistance, equity, etc.).
- Keep human resources information up to date.
- Stay up dated on benefits, health, and safety practices.
- Make recommendations on existing policies.
- Provide information to management and employees on the interpretation of human resource policies.
- Negotiate collective agreements and mediate labour disputes and grievances.
- Play a strategic role as a business partner.
- Participate in the attraction and retention of jobs.
