Technicians in Accounting and Bookkeepers

Job description

These individuals keep the accounting, whether computerized or not, up to date and the records of the accounts of a company, under the supervision of an accountant. They verify the methods used to record financial transactions. They also provide bookkeeping services to individuals.

Environment

Main tasks

  • Keep financial records.
  • Organize, maintain, and balance various accounts.
  • Maintain general ledgers, make journal entries, and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare trial balances of accounts and financial statements.
  • Perform calculations and prepare pay cheques and invoices.
  • Complete and submit government forms and documents (tax payments, workers’ compensation, pension benefits, etc.).
  • Prepare income tax returns and provide bookkeeping services for individuals.
  • Prepare statistical, financial and accounting reports.

Advancement and mobility

  • Additional training leads to positions in professional accounting.
