Architectural Technologists and Technicians

Job description

These individuals develop drawings, models, and specifications for construction or renovation projects. They oversee the completion of these projects. They are self-employed or work for architectural and construction firms or the government.

Main tasks

  • Assist in the development of architectural designs.
  • Take measurements of buildings (surveys).
  • Develop drawings, scale and virtual models, and specifications.
  • Estimate the quantity of materials required for projects.
  • Analyze current building codes, municipal bylaws, and space and location requirements.
  • Prepare contracts and tenders.
  • Supervise other Draftspersons, Technologists, and Technicians as required.
  • Supervise construction projects, as required.

  • There is mobility between these positions and related positions (Draftspersons, Civil Engineering Technologists and Technicians, Construction Estimators, etc.).
  • Experience leads to supervisory positions.
