Denturists

Job description

These individuals make, fit, and adjust removable dental prostheses. They replace missing teeth extracted as a result of an illness, an accident, or a disability. They repair dental prostheses as needed and maintain them. They work for private practices or in laboratories.

Main tasks

  • Assess their patients’ dental prostheses needs.
  • Measure their jaws and take impressions of their teeth and gums.
  • Determine the size and shape of dentures and of the dental prostheses to be made.
  • Design, make, insert, adjust, repair, and adapt dentures and dental prostheses.
  • Make other devices (e.g. prostheses to stop snoring).
  • Order X-rays as required.
  • Provide medical follow-ups to patients to adjust and fit their dental prostheses.
