Job description
These individuals plan, coordinate, and oversee the activities of welders who work with metal components. They resolve work-related problems and recommend measures to increase productivity. They manage staff and ensure their training. They ensure the quality control of welded products and compliance with occupational safety standards. They work for:

Main tasks
- Read and interpret welding drawings or technical specifications.
- Establish work methods to meet planned deadlines.

- Order the materials and supplies needed to perform the welding work.
- Program computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools.
- Draft reports detailing the work accomplished and the tasks that remain.

Formation
Also required
- Many years of experience as a welder.
- A journeyman competency certificate (JCC) as a welder.
