Job description
These individuals perform landscaping work on private, public, or commercial properties. They create aesthetic and functional outdoor spaces from plans. They maintain existing landscaped spaces.

Main tasks
- Follow plans to carry out the required work.
- Spread soil, lay sod, and plant vegetation (flowers, shrubs, trees).
- Install various structures and lighting systems.
- Lay paving stone.
- Mow, rake, fertilize, and water lawns.
- Weed gardens.
- Trim shrubs and trees.
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
- Maintain lawns and roadside turf.
- Clean and maintain the landscaped environment.
Advancement and mobility
- Experience or additional training lead to senior or supervisory positions.
Training and requirements
Formation
Most training programs are offered in French only.

Sometimes required
- Permit to apply chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides may be required depending on the nature of the work (e.g. Certificate CD4 - Ornamental Horticulture Application).
- A Class 5 driver’s licence is often required.
